Celebrate with these bright recycled Easter decorations – and without the waste. We’ve picked out a few of our favourite recycled ‘Make and Dos’ tutorials for you to get stuck into, most of which could be easily modified to suit your particular taste.
Do let us know also if you’ve come up with any other recycled Easter decorations. The Greenredeem team would love to share them on Twitter and Facebook!
Egg carton daffodils
Flowering daffs spell the start of the warmer weather and we think this jaunty crew would bring a touch of sunshine into any room. Whilst a little care is needed with cutting, this would be a fantastic way to keep the kids or grandkids amused over the Easter weekend.
Shredded paper nests
Raid the shredder at work for the basic materials for these pretty nests! A little PVA glue and water is all that’s needed besides. The paper-mache nests are surprisingly tough despite their delicate appearance, ideal for displaying painted eggs or as packaging for a homemade chocolate egg!
Painted jar planters
A quick spray paint transforms a bunch of old jars into a cheering display for a mantelpiece or windowsill. What do you think of the bunny silhouettes on these upcycled jars? Whilst you can do just half this easy tutorial and leave the jars as plain pastel colours, we really like the addition of all those especially Easter-y rabbits!
Think we’ll make a few and give them as Easter gifts for our garden lover friends!
Beeswax egg candles
How’s about the idea of using egg shells as moulds for eco-friendly beeswax candles? Can’t believe we haven’t thought of it before!
You will need to buy some supplies for this project: wicks and beeswax for candle-making are easy to track down quite cheaply online. And it would be worth it! Imagine a set of these as a wonderful centrepiece for an Easter lunch…
Lampshade egg basket
Oh, this really is a clever reuse idea! An unwanted lampshade frame meets some chicken wire and a squizz of spray paint and gets a whole new lease of life as an Easter basket. After Easter, the basket can keep on giving as decorative storage for fruit or a house plant pot. When the Christmas season comes around, we can see this looking stylish filled with pine cones or baubles.
Easter bunny bunting
Not into OTT flowers, ribbons and egginess at Easter? This bunny bunting ‘rainbow’ is eye-catching without the usual Easter frou-frou. Did you spot the recycling? Yes, those are paint colour strips from the DIY shop!
Painted egg carton display
Alternatively, if you love a classic Easter look, we don’t think you can go far wrong with a beautiful painted egg and flower centrepiece. Just look at those colours!
Painted rock ‘eggs’
Even the most DIY-challenged amongst us could manage this Easter decoration! A pile of smooth river pebbles make surprisingly good ‘eggs’ when painted in seasonal colours.
